5:00 a.m.

The top 5 reasons of going to the gym at 5:00am
1. There are no cars/ no students on the road. love.
2. Front row parking at the gym. awesome.
3. My choice of any treadmill I want. perfect.
4. All the CMT Country Music Videos/Saved by the Bell episodes I can handle. amazing.
and last, but definitely not the least
{my favorite actually}
5. I know for sure I won't be late for my 7:45 Nursing stimulation lab. wonderful.
Happy Friday!
Random picture that has nothing to do with anything, but I just love my siblings!
How stinking cute are they!
And well, it's my blog so I can be as random as I want :)

Why I Love BYU

This morning I woke up to a wonderful text message from dear old dad.
How I just love him!
thanks daddy-o
Rolled out of bed and headed up to campus for my 8:00 class.
Did I mention that this particular nursing class {along with every nursing class} is 3 hours long!
Yup.
It is.
Oh joy!
The best part of nursing (besides practicing shots and IV's on each other)
are the best friends that I have!
I don't know where I would be without my most favorite girls.
3 hour classes seem to breeze by with them in it!

After lunch, I met up with some of my oldest friends to say goodbye to our dear old friend Maura
She leaves tomorrow into the MTC where she will be heading to Russia on her LDS mission.
You will be missed so much Maura!
Мы любим Вас!
{this means we love you in Russian! Thank you free translations}

Now...explanation for today's blog title!
Oh BYU
I really do love you!
Not just because you have invited Condoleezza Rice to speak at this weeks Forum
(clike here to learn more)
love. love. love.
but because during "lunch time"
this is what happened!

I know it may be blurry...
I had to whip out the good ol' mac book and capture this amazingness on photo booth!
But what happened is
1. Music came on
2. One girl stared to dance
3. Then another
4. And another
5. And ANOTHER!
6. Wow!

Thank you BYU for making my day that much more wonderful!
Oh and to top it off!
We got out an hour early today in Pharmacology.
Love it.
Now...
off to Costco!!

Grab some Veggies

If there is one thing I love more than chocolate
It would be movies.
I absolutely love sitting down in the big comfy seats
and enjoying a nice movie.
This weekend I was anxiously awaiting Country Strong.
I was so excited!
1. It's a country movie...obviously I was excited
2. My favorite Blair Waldorf  (aka Leeighton Meester) was in it!
3. The studly and handsome Garret Hedlund was in it as well.
Friday night after work, I rushed over to the theater where Lauren, Gabby and Scott were saving me a seat
The movie was amazing
Different than what I expected, but so so good
Everyone needs to see it!
And then ask me for the soundtrack because I am obsessed
{wow, go figure, me obsessed with something! Shocking I know}
Along with Country Strong I saw True Grit
which was also muy bien!

My half-marathon training has been going GREAT!
It is fun to work towards something, and it has been fun mixing up my exercises
Running.
Spin.
P90x!
My roommate Gabby is in love with P90x so I told her I would be her buddy!
Let me tell you...I am very sore.

Sunday night- a great time to prep for the week
Which means...food food food!
I like to prepare my meals early because I get so dang busy in the week!
This is an easy pick me up that everyone should try!
I got the recipe from my mom.
My mom: The 10-miler runner, healthy eater, most amazing person ever!

Mix it all up

3 tomatoes
1 cucumber
As many green beans as you can handle (I am a tad obsessed with green beans so I throw a ton in)
1 red onion
Red Vinegar
Parsley

Just cut up all your ingredients
(You can use more or less, it's whatever you like! I like to make a whole lot so that I can eat it for a couple of days. Anywhoo cook your green beans and cut up the rest of your veggies. Throw them into a bowl and put some red vinegar on it and some parsley, stir it up and stick it in the fridge to chill it! its yummy. oh and I LOVE avocado in it!

Who knew Vegetables could taste so good!!
Happy Monday!

Just like the T.V shows!

I watch the shows.
Okay, lets re-write that.
I am obsessed with the shows!
Grey's Anatomy.
Private Practice.
Love them both.
Well, I am happy to say that my nursing lab was just like the shows that I love!
Friday morning I got to experience the official nursing scrub in!
5 minute sterile procedure scrub-in into the OR (operating room)
It was amazing, and so much fun!
{yes, I said it! School is fun}

Along with scrubbing in, we got to practice IV's!
I have never had an IV before, so I was so nervous to get one...
but more nervous to insert one!
Paige and I buddied up
{I just lover her}
This is how it went down.
Thursday we were told to eat a "hardy breakfast"
hmm...faint much?
I think the teachers wanted to prepare us.
Great.
We get into lab.
The teachers run through the procedure on a fake mannequin hand
Then we each proceed to do the same.

Next.
Partner time!!
I couldn't believe that we already had to put them in our buddies!
Let the practice begin!
Pokes.
Blood.
Blood Vessels.
IV rearrangements.
Great fun.
Okay, okay, I may look a tad faint, I knew I should have had that juice box.

I am seriously so blessed to be in nursing school. I am anxiously looking forward to this semester because it is the first semester we are actually in the hospital!
We are on the medical surgical floor/OR.
Let the fun begin!

Tuesday: Med-surg and Pharmacology: 6 hours

Wednesday: Research: 3 hours

Thursday: Clinical: 10 hours

Friday: Front-loading lab: 4 hours

Oh the Joy

Monday brought a world-wind of surprises.
And so it begins.
Sunday evening, our sink decided it didn't want to drain anymore.
Nope.
And recruiting a partner in crime, the tub as well decided not to drain!
Hmm..this was getting a little weird.
So we called our landlord.
Monday evening...in come the plumbers.

It turns out that the pipes froze!
Over the Christmas break it got so cold
(thank goodness I was laying on the beach)
that the pipes froze
However, our apt wasn't that bad because Shannon stayed over break and left the heat on
Thanks Shan-Dawg
So after draining the sink
(haha the plumbers wanted to know who ate all the lettuce...whoops sorry! I love my salads :)
and draining the tub...over they headed to our friends apartment three doors down.
Well, unfortunately, none of them were home over break
and being that 3 of the 4 girls are from California
they didn't realize that they needed to leave the heat on.
Oh no!
So their apartment flooded.
After moving their entire apartment into the kitchen
and ripping up the new carpet
and drying up the water
We have temporary roommates.
So in our family room are set up mattresses for the girls!
Note to self: Make sure you don't turn the heat off!

On a brighter note!
I would like to take a second and give an ode to my favorite store ever.
Costco.
I am pretty much in love with this store.
It is that amazing.
I am pretty sure all the door greeters know me because I love to go in there and shop.
Being gone for almost 2 weeks I had absolutely nothing in my apartment
so...
off to Costco I go!

Shopping List

1. Bread
2. Almond Butter
{way better than Peanut Butter..and for all you non-believers..come on over and I'll change your mind with the best Almond Butter and Banana sandwich. It will change your life}

4. Salmon
5. Frozen berries
6. Bananas
7. Carrots
8. Lettuce
9. Strawberries
10. Orange Juice
12. Tomatoes
13. Tuna

I walked out a happy camper
after stopping for a second to browse through People and Us Weekly.

It's true, I absolutely love grocery shopping.
But really. I do.

Welcome Home.

Wow! It has been so long since I have been on my blog.
What can I say.
Cruise, Mexico, Swimsuits, Dolphins, Family, Food, Disneyland and Shopping
ya...not much time for blogging.
This vacation has been one of the best breaks I have ever had.
Any break that I can spend with my family is awesome

but this one just had a little extra!
For 7 days, my family and my mom's extended family all boarded on the Sapphire Princess Cruise
It was absolutely amazing!
No homework.
No tests.
No work.
Just happiness and relaxation.
