It's Been a Year!

It's been a year!
A year this month since I started working at Nordstrom.
It started as a summer job
But turned into so much more!
I started in hosiery
{yes, you can laugh, but I loved hosiery! tights. leggings. holiday socks.}
And after a couple of months got moved to handbags.
And have been there ever since!
I look forward to going to work.
It is so much fun.
Great environment.
Great friends.
Thank you Nordstrom for the best job ever!

Pete Nordstrom and my Store Manager

My mom and Papa came into town to surprise me when I got
the All Star award.
There I got to meet Pete Nordstrom!

Smiles.

I knew today was going to be a good day.
You see, my dear friend Paige had exactly what I wanted.
Glee. Soundtrack. Season 2.
I was so excited!!
My roommate Gabster and I started Glee about a week ago.
We
Are
Obsessed
{Me obsessed with a TV show! Crazy I know. Has never happened before}
Every night we watch an episode
{or two, or three}
and it is my favorite part of the day!

So with Glee Soundtrack blasting, its hard to have a bad day!
My mom convinced me to have a little "me" time.
Good idea mom!
So, the perfect way to spend my "me" time!
Manicure and Pedicure.
Just what I wanted
{and desperately needed}
You see, it is my way of forcing Spring to come sooner!
And plus, who doesn't like wearing the cute yellow flip-flops?

My day wouldn't be a "me" day without a trip to Costco. Obviously.
My list was short
1. Bread
2. Water Bottles
3. Strawberries
I am a sucker for cute socks so I had to add those to my list
I just love the colors!

I got home and washed my strawberries!
{And then proceeded to eat about half the box. yum}
Strawberries make me think of summer time.
Which makes me very excited

Then, to finish off my happy day of smiles and "me" time
I went and got the mail and all my magazines came!
Nordstrom.
Anthropologie.
Victoria Secret Swim.
Love.

Today was a day of smiles.
I encourage everyone to have a little "me" time of their own.
It is needed
and so worth it.

Now, I think I am going to clean out my drawers and start my laundry.
Dinner.
Then off to spin with Janae!
Then off to the library to do my enormous amount of homework
Can't wait.

Happy Wednesday!
Almost the weekend.

Triple Tangent Tuesday

Every week
{more like 5x a day!}
I read my cute spin teacher's blog.
{Which you should all go read now! She is awesome}
And every Tuesday is Triple Tangent Tuesday.
She always wants us to do it on our blog, and so I thought to myself
Allright...either I can blog or work on my Nursing Process Paper.
ya. easy choice.
So here it goes!
1. I sing everywhere. I have since I was little. And it doesn't matter where I am
{My roommate can be my witness for me on this one}
I sing in the shower.
I sing on the treadmill.
I love when I get really excited about a song
and I am just rocking out and the runners next to me think I am crazy.
priceless.
I sing in class
{quietly and under my breath of course}
I sing in bed to Gabby
{I am pretty sure that is why she keeps me around}
I may not have the best voice in town but it ain't gonna stop me!

2. I used to be the shortest girl in my family.
Allright, who am I kidding, basically I was the shortest girl in my entire class
until I was in 7th grade.
Seriously, so short.
But, oh have the tables turned!
I am now the tallest girl in the family!!
5' 7" 3/4 and proud of it baby!

3. I am a Belieber!
I think Justin Bieber is amazing.
yes, I am 20.
When I am struggling with the last few miles of a run, you can believe
that Justin Bieber is blasting through my headphones.
Favorite song?
As of right now, Never Say Never.
Love.
{It's Bieber baby!}
Allright, its faceinhole.com
But I can wish right!

Now, I want to hear tangents about you!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
You should watch Glee tonight.
It's amazing.

Perfect Weekend.

There are few perfect weekends.
But this weekend requires a little red check in the box titled
Amazing Weekend.
My best friend
{aka my mother}
flew into town on Friday.
I found out she was coming on Thursday.
Best News Ever.
You see, my big sister Mackenzie is getting married!!
{To this lucky fellow right here}

So my amazing mother flew in to go wedding dress shopping!
It was so much fun.
I went and picked her up at the airport and then we met Mackenzie in Sandy
and ate lunch at Paradise Bakery
{the best Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Chipper Cookies ever}
Mom and I then sat in comfy chairs and watched Kenz try on lots and lots of dresses.
I, sadly, had to leave to go back to work.
But then, they came to visit me!
It was so much fun.
{and work was busy so thats good}
Saturday, Mom and I went on a run.
Oh
My
Goodness
Let's just say that she kicked my trash.
Seriously I don't know how she does it.
I have been living here 3 years and she took me on hills that I never even knew existed!
She flew up those hills like it was no one's buisness.
Way to go mamma.
one day I will try to keep up with you.
Then, back to work for me!
More dress shopping for Mom and Kenz.
After work I went and helped narrow down the decision.
The dress Kenz got is gorgeous
{sorry, no pictures yet!}
Kenz went home and Mom and I spent the rest of the night together.

Best Friends
Mother/Daughter

I dropped her off at the airport this morning and it was hard to see her go!
But she will be back soon.
So glad California is just a short plane flight away.
Thanks for a great weekend Mom!
I love you.

Beauty

Yesterday we
  {and when I say we I mean BYU nurses}
had our semesterly Professionalism Conference.
Every semester we attend classes where we have
guest speakers that come in and talk about nursing related things
My favorite?
NICU and Labor and Delivery Nurses.
I love learning about this becuase this is what I see for myself in the future.
This time around, the conference was extra special.
Our keynote speaker was none other than Stephanie Nielson

In 2005, Stephanie became a "well-known mommy blogger"
Her uplifting and humorous stories contributed to her thousands of followers.
In August of 2008, her and her husband were flying across Arizona when their small plane crashed
The plane exploded on impact.
The pilot suffered fatal injuries and died 24 hours later
Stephanie suffered severe burns over 80% of her body.
She was in an induced medical coma for 10 weeks, while doctors treated her burns.
In Novemeber 2008, Stephanie woke up.
It has been a tough road for Stephanie.
She said connecting with her children was hard
{it had been a long time, and she didn't look like the "mom" her children were used to}
But Stephanie is amazing.
Although her life was thrown upside, she works hard everyday.
Everyday poses new challenges.
New blessings.
New heartaches.
But most importantly
Improvement.

Every day, Stephanie gets stronger.
She spoke of her time in the hospital, and the impact the nurses had on her.
The kindness, genuine care, compassion and sincerity that they showed
made her fight even harder for her life.
I am so grateful to be in program that allows me to help others.
In the end, being able to lift other people up, help them in some way
{even if it's small}
makes all of my hard days worth it.

Another thing I learned from Stephanie was that beauty truly is only skin deep.
In our lives we get caught up with our looks.
We get caught up in the "I wishes..."

"I wish I could lose 10 lbs.
I wish I was 3'' taller.
I wish I was 3'' shorter.
I wish I had longer hair.
I wish I looked like her."

The list can go on and on and on.

It is important to remember that life is more than what we see on the outside.
We have a responsibility.
We have a life to live.
We have a purpose to fulfill.
Thank you Stephanie, for reminding me what truly is important in life.
You are an amazing woman.
