February Fake-out

Sunshine.
Light sweaters.
Cute Flats.
Running outside.
I know, I know, that sounds amazing!
And that's what I was experiencing a few weeks ago.
FAKE-OUT!
This is what Gabster likes to call
February Fake-out.
You see, you think winter may just be gone.
It sounds crazy, but the weather is just nice enough to believe it.
But.
Then you wake up one morning.
{Like this morning}
And you find this
Lovely.
A fake-out indeed.
But it's okay, because the time will come when it isn't a fake-out.
And I can play in the sunshine all the days long
and oh how I look forward to that day.

Now.
No matter what the weather is, you will still always have your friends.
And I have some of the best.
Especially the darling Paige Brunt
{check out her cute blog here!}
She is always thinking of others and I am so grateful for her friendship.
I get a text from her
saying she wants to bring me a present.
ME!?
A PRESENT?!
Wow, okie!
and she brought me this...
{You can imagine it as a whole..the roomies dove in before I could snap some pics}

Isn't she just the cutest, most awesome person ever!
We spent the entire day together.
5:30am- Clinical
3:30pm- Drive to Gandolfo's
4:00pm-Run into the entire Volleyball team from SDSU
{pretty awesome}
Ate an amazing sandwich!
4:40pm- Dropped Paige off at home
8:00pm- Back to Paige's for Grey's Anatomy and Hot Chocolate.
Perfect.
{oh, and today I got to draw her blood. NBD}

So even though it is snowy and cold
I have the best friends!
And it makes me quite happy.
and my sissy is coming to see me tomorrow!
Even better.
Love me some good ol' Madison&Mackenzie Time.

Happy Friday!

Normal is Overrated.

You know you are in trouble
when you go out with your best friends and they see this sign
And call out your name.
Yikes!
What can I say...just being ME is exhausting day-after-day!!
{you can all laugh now..since that is a joke}
But like I said
Normal is overrated.
If you were normal you couldn't...
1. Pretend you are a bird...on a wall.
2. Slip-n-slide in blue foam!
3. Pretend you are an amazing dancer while the sun is setting...obviously.
4. Go to the Utah Jazz game and come home with jugs of milk!
And the list could go on..and on..and on..
but I better stop now.
Don't wanna get too crazy.

Life is great.

Another little letter.

Dear Weather,
Please be sunny the next couple of days
so that some very special people
can come visit me and Kenzie!
I would really appreciate it.
Thank you
{and if you can't be sunny,
could you at least make the roads bearable
so they can get here!}
Much Love,
Madison

{as much as I love you rain...I am wishing you far far away...just for this week. You see, you cause snow and make the roads too dangerous to drive on, and the airplanes delayed. So please don't come!}

60 minutes.

How much can you actually accomplish in an hour?
Run an errand.
Go to spin class.
Sit in traffic.
Get an oil change.
When you think about it...
an hour isn't very long.
Sixty minutes.
Thirty-six hundred seconds.
That's it.
Well, in an hour, I can watch one episode of One Tree Hill.
And I am happy to say...that we are caught up!!
You see, I have this little tradition.
Every summer I pick a TV show that I have never seen before.
And start it from the beginning.

Summer of Senior year in High School: Friends
Freshman Summer: Alias
Sophomore Summer: The OC

This past summer
{April of 2010}
Lauren and I decided on One Tree Hill
and I am happy to say that last night we finally caught up to present day.
10 months
8 seasons
167 episodes
later
we did it!
It is pretty exciting.

On another happy note.
Today is my Nonnie's birthday!
My Nonnie is one of my best friends
{And probably my #1 blog reader..thanks Non!}
She is an amazing grandma and I love her very much!
Happy Birthday Nonnie
{don't worry...I won't make a numbered list for your age}
You're the best!

Enjoy your President's Day!

A little letter.

Dear Pharmacology,
Why do you have to be a 3 hour class?
Can't you tell we are all very very sleepy.
And bored.
That's all I am saying.
Thank goodness for the little 5 minute breaks.
They are very helpful.
Love,
Madison

Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day!
Woke up this morning from a text from my daddy
"Happy V Day Maddi. For today, you are my Valentine..."
and other fantastic words.
Thanks dad for being the best, most perfect Valentine.
Oh Valentines Day
Flowers.
Chocolates.
Purses.
Thank you ladies for sending your men into Nordstrom Handbags department
You made me a happy working girl today!
Since Valentines Day is a day of love
I decided to put together a list of what I love
1. Valentine packages from the parentals. Thank you!! Mom and Dad your packages are always amazing
2. My wonderful bike GG! Who is dying to get out into the sunshine
GG now has a cute little whicker basket attached to the front.
Oh and my mother has a matching bike.
We are kind of cool like that.
3. My car Henry. I am seriously in love with my car. Him and I have grown together.
We are basically best friends.
And he is patriotic. What more could I ask for.
Henry bringing GG back to Utah.
4. Almond Butter and Chobani Greek Yogurt-allright all you non-believers. You best start believing in this wonderfulness.
It is simply fantastic.
5. My Cycle Shoes! If anyone goes to spin class at the gym YOU NEED THESE SHOES! They will help so much! Give you a fantabulous workout. Love them.
Yes, I know I have big feet. Don't laugh.
6. Headbands. I want to be like Blair Waldorf.
7. Which leads me to my next love...Gossip Girl..more specifically Chuck Bass
My love list can go on forever.
So I figured Chuck Bass would be a great way to end.
And I mean, if I ended with Justin Bieber, that would be a little weird
{but know he is definitely on the list}
Happy Valentines Day!

babies. babies. babies

Pretty darn good clinical day.
A few words that bring a smile to my face.
Labor/Delivery
Neo-Natal
C-Section
That's right.
Due to the lack of patients on the Surgical Floor, I was transferred to Mother Baby
The first live birth I have ever seen.
It was a miracle
{I get the whole saying now...miracle of life...perfect}
After the baby was delivered
I followed the nurse and watched and assisted on the baby's assessment.
The tiny hands that grab onto your finger
The tiny stethoscopes that listens to the tiny hearts
The tiny diapers to put on the tiny bottoms
The tiny pink bows to put on the tiny little heads
It was a perfect day.
Spent with a brand new perfect baby
I think I found my specialty
Enjoy the sunshine!
.....
and some pics from when I was a youngster.

{ Ya I was really cute}

Airplanes.

My time at home couldn't have been more perfect.
When is home not perfect I guess is the better question.
Especially with a family like mine.
Sorry for the lack of pictures.
I know, a blog is tenfolds better with pictures.
But.
 I was too glued at the hip of my mom to whip out the camera.
I flew out Friday and got in that evening.
Greeted by the parentals
and a persimmon cookie.
Wonderful.
I spent the rest of the weekend
1. playing many many hands of hearts
{which by the way, I won my first hand. thank you very much. To the normal person that means nothing, but playing with my family, it means everything}
2. Eating really really good food
3. Watching Glee with Miranda
{well, more like fast forwarding the entire show except the singing parts}
4. Running errands with my mamma
4.5 Running hills in the sunshine
5. Following my dad around everywhere
6. Watching Miranda play soccer
7. Shopping
8. Catching up with old friends
9. Superbowl
10. Dentist
{which was the worst part of my trip. man. I hate the drilling. and the smell. I guess thats the price you get for
the pearly whites.}
Although my time was short it was exactly what I needed.
I can never get enough of my family.
They are my best friends.
I can never get enough of the sunshine.
I loved soaking in the 75 degree weather
Flying home, I had a 30 minute layover in Vegas
My first flight.
Wonderful.
Only 50 people on the flight which means I got the entire row to myself!
I took a great nap.
Second flight.
Wonderful
Watched Gossip Girl
{more like skipped around a bajillion episodes and watched all the good Chuck and Blair scenes}
Getting off the plane.
Even better.
I was greeted coming down the escalator by my most amazing friends
Chelsey and Jane.
Even better than that...they made me a Welcome Home sign hahaha
How I love them.
Jumping up and down and screaming my name was quite a homecoming.
Now its back to the grind.
Back to the cold.
But who cares...I spent a whole weekend with my family.
There is nothing better.

Happiness.

This morning I woke up to a lovely phone call from one of my most favorite nursing friends Melissa.
She just wanted to let me know that it was currently 3 degrees outside.
So I rolled over and opened the blinds.
Sunshine.
Even though it was 3 degrees there was sunshine.
Sunshine to me equals happiness.
I then decided to have some fun and go onto weatherchannel.com
First search.
Provo, UT
Weekend Forecast
{and these are the High's}
{and yes this * means degrees in Madison World aka Madison's computer}
Fri: 31*
Sat: 41*
Sun: 42*
Mon: 30*
Wow, that is some cold weather.
I then decided to do another search.
Rocklin, CA
Weekend Forecast
Fri: 66*
Sat: 67*
Sun: 66*
Mon: 65*
Wow, that is a whole lot nicer
It's a good thing I am going home on Friday!
Home to me equals happiness.
20-30 degrees warmer weather to me equals happiness.
And now, a whole lot more happiness!
3 words.
Katy Perry Concert.
That's right. It's concert time!
Allright, it's not exactly concert time, becuase the concert is in July, but it gives me something to look forward to.
Our seats are F1.
Where that is you may be thinking?
Let me show you
Okay, I know it is kind of hard to see, but we are on the floor!!
Good seats to a concert to me equals happiness.
So be happy.
Life is too great not to be.
I am the first to agree that life can be
too busy
too hectic
too stressful
but you know what!
that's life!
It will always be that way
so be happy anyway.

If you need a happy boost...do what I do!
1. Go grocery shopping! This makes me extremely happy.
2. Go for a run. It is a great way to clear your mind
3. Grab some friends and make a YoZone run! Nothing like yogurt when its cold outside :)
4. Watch an episode of your favorite show!
{Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, The Bachelor...allright I know I am kind of a tv show junkie...but hey it makes me happy!}
5. Go for a drive and blast your music and sing at the top of your lungs
6. Call a family member!
 7. Insert an IV
{okay, so not everyone can do this, but it sure does make me happy}
8. Clean your room
9. Do a good deed for someone else
10. Laugh, Laugh, Laugh, and Laugh some more

So be happy.
Enjoy life.
The end.

Date Night!

Date Night with Jane!

Oh how I just love Provo
{sometimes}
You see, here there is such a thing called the Dollar Theater.
Yup. Movies here are a dollar.
One dollar.
50 cent plus 50 cent.
Okay, okay, you get the picture.
Anywhoo.
I needed a break.
A break from homework.
From cleaning.
From life.
So my amazing, wonderful friend Jane and I decided to go see Burlesque
It.Was.Amazing.
Seriously, I think that I am going to drop out of Nursing School
and go to L.A.
and become a dancer in a club
and dance on tables
in cute little sequin outfits.
won't I just fit right in!
allright..back to reality
but it seriously was so good.
Christina Aguilera has such an amazing voice.
